Ho iniziato questo blog con una poesia di Alda Merini dedicata ad un bambino, a Bergamo infatti ha fatto il suo ingresso nel mondo del patchwork l'ultimo quilt creato con l'aiuto dei bambini di Milano che si sono divertiti a disegnare con la stoffa un prato fiorito.
I've started his post with a poem written by Alda Merini and dedicated to a child.

In fact, the latest quilt created with the help of children from Milan, who had a lot of fun drawing a garden in bloom with fabrics, was displayed in Bergamo. 

I blocchi sono stati poi assemblati e quiltati da Monica Ferrari.
The blocks were then put together and quilted by Monica Ferrari.

Sotto lo slide con le foto di tanti quilt e di Bergamo la città che ci ospitava.
Città divisa in due parti, una sopra, antica e turistica chiamata "Bergamo Alta" ed una sotto più moderna e industriale chiamata "Bergamo Bassa" ed unite tra loro da una funicolare.
Below you can see the slide-show with pictures of the quilts and Bergamo, the town hosting us. The town is divided into two parts, above there is the ancient and more tourist one (called "Bergamo Alta"), and the modern and industrial one below (called "Bergamo Bassa"). The two parts are joined by a street and a funicular.

 

ROCK'N'ROLL HANDS

Vi ricordate tutte le mani del quilting day di ottobre?

Do you remeber the hands from October's Quilting Day?

Ne avevo 120 perchè ogni partecipante ne doveva portare una che serviva come biglietto d'ingresso. Come usarle? Come cucirle?

I had 120 of them, because each one taking part to it had to bring a hand as 'entrance ticket'.

How to use them? How to sew them?

Ho giocato un po' con la mia vera mano e con photoshop,

I have been playing with my real hands and with Photoshop,

le ho girate e rigirate sul mio tavolo,
I turned and turned them again on the table,

e sul pavimento e poi la decisione.

Farò due quilt grandi che poi verranno donati in beneficenza e uno piccolo che terremo noi(capirete perchè lo terremo noi tra qualche giorno).

I'll make two huge quilts that will then given for charity and also a small quilt that we are going to take (and you'll find out why in the next days).

Ne ho cucite 64 e le ho immaginate impegnate a ballare in una sala tutta piena di luci e colori.

I've sewed 64 hands and I have imagined them dancing in a room full of lights and colours.

Ed eccole qui tutte insieme in questo quilt, trapuntato da Teresa Gai, che ho chiamato ROCK'N'ROLL HANDS.

And here they are, all together, in this quilt, quilted by Teresa Gai, that I named ROCK'N'ROLL HANDS.

Era esposto alla Fiera di Bergamo insieme a tanti altri quilt che vi mostrerò nei prossimi giorni.

Per le altre mani?........ sicuramente non balleranno.

It was shown at the Bergamo Fair with many other quilts that I'll show you in the following days.

About the other hands... They won't dance for sure.

Nel mondo del web c'è un nuovo blog "A ROOM WITH A HUE".

There is a new blog in the world wide web "A ROOM WITH A HUE".

E' stato realizzato da un gruppo di ragazzi provenienti da diverse parti del mondo, tra i quali mia figlia Isabella, che a Londra frequentano un master in editoria presso il London College of Communication.

Questo blog è parte del progetto pratico che stanno realizzando per il loro corso di studi.

"A Room with a Hue" è un libro (con scopo educativo e non commerciale) dedicato all'arte, agli artisti, ai materiali, all'ispirazione e ai colori.

In questo blog ci saranno estratti delle interviste contenute nel libro (12 artisti in totale), informazioni sulle mostre, news e un sondaggio (che vedete sulla destra del loro spazio sotto la scritta GIVE US YOUR OPINION ABOUT ART BOOKS).

It was created by a group of guys from different corners of the world, among them also my daughter, that are attending a Master in Publishing at the London College of Communication.

This blog is part of the practical project they are doing for their course.

"A Room with a Hue" is a book (with educational and non-commercial purposes) dedicated to art, artists, materials, inspiration and colours.

In this blog there will be abstracts from the interviews in the book (12 artists), exhibitions, news and a survey (that you can find on the right of the page, in the section GIVE US YOUR OPINION ABOUT ART BOOKS).

Invito tutte voi che numerose seguite il mio blog, naturalmente se lo volete, a rispondere alle domande che troverete.

Sono in inglese ma facili da comprendere.

VENEZIA E CRISTINA --- VENICE AND CRISTINA

Charles Aznavour cantava in una sua canzone"come è triste Venezia......."

Anch'io ho visto una Venezia triste, pigra, insonnolita, silenziosa.......

Lo scorso weekend mi si è presentata davanti agli occhi una Venezia come quella che vedrete nelle foto sotto.

In quella sua triste veste mi è piaciuta molto, era come noi quando a volte vogliamo rimanere

silenziosi e solitari.

I've seen a sad, lazy, unusual, silent Venice too...

Last weekend I've found a Venice like the one you'll see in the pics below.

I really liked it in its sad dress. It was like us, when we want to be silent and alone.

LONDRA 2 - I MIEI ACQUISTI --- LONDON 2 - MY PURCHASES

A Londra, al mercato dei fiori, ho trovato un bel negozio di stoffe vintage e ho acquistato anche qualche stoffina.

I found a nice shop with vintage fabrics in London at Flowers Garden, and I bought some of them.

Questa stoffa con le bamboline che mi ha ricordato le bambole di carta con le quali giocavo da piccola.

These are the dolls that remind me of the paper dolls I used to play with when I was a child.

Un alfabeto, non si sa mai, dovessi diventare nonna.

An alphabet, you never know, in case I'll become grandmom.

Qui invece a Portobello, non ho potuto resistere a questa cover per il mio cellulare,

Instead, in Portobello, I couldn't resist and I had to buy this cover for my mobile

a un cappellino per la pioggia,

and an hat for the rain,

e ....potevo rinunciare alla spilla con la cerniera ?!

Behind this blue door, there is the venue of the founders of the copywrite, which dates back to 1500.
