NUOVO PROGETTO --- NEW PROJECT

After the "little red square" made by 399 quilters, after the textile book celebrating the 20th anniversary of quilt italia, it is the time to start a new project: using the shapes of the feet of Italian quilters and their nieces.
Please find below the link to the method used to produce the book and the book itself.

CHE DOMENICA!!! --- WHAT A SUNDAY!!!

Hi here I am after so much time. And I start telling you about last Sunday. Of course I'll tell you everything in a happy way.

E.... who loves cooking, cakes, cakes with fruit.

L. ... who loves music and the notes spin in her mind.

"Children are able to find all even when there is nothing, men find nothing even when there is everything"

Avremo 365 particolari "personali"e unici.

I read these words by Giacomo Leopardi on Monica's blog "le tre civette", it made me think and remind a game I learned during one of the psychology workshops I attended
Let me explain it to you and I hope it will help.
At night, when we go to sleep, we think most of the times "what a bad day today" or "today everything went wrong" and we see all black, because our days are full of lack of time, stress, commitments, hurry.
Actually, there was for sure a moment of happiness but we didn't recognise it.
This is the game. Before falling asleep, we should try to think about a nice moment, make a postcard o a picture out of it and keep it in our mind, which is so wide and able to keep not only negative but also positive moments.
In the beginning, the "postcards" will be one or two, but then practicing we will be able to find a lot of them and the game will become more and more difficult, because we will have to keep only one of them, the most beautiful.
The day after we need to find two minutes to write down on our personal notebook "our postcard" with the date and a little comment. At the end of the year we will have 365 moments to remember.
We will have 365 "personal" and unique details.
To me, reading Monica's quote was a moment to take a picture of.

A beautiful stamp could remind us of received and sent postcards.

Walking in the street we could notice a heart, a lot of kites, a coloured manhole or a heart-shaped signal.

The smell of a flower could remind us of having painted some flowers, or of admiring a flower made of fabrics.

Some words written on a quilt could remind us of reading a poem, of creating a wall of written words and of listening to the words (sounds) of music.

A smile could remind us of having helped someone and a handshake of helping them again.

Buona Giornata!
A keyhole of an ancient door could remind us of creating some paper-birds for our home or of making our children drawing on an old bedsheet to cheer up a sed corner or of dragonflies bring Spring, even when make of glass. I wish you a happy day!

DOPO NATALE --- AFTER CHRISTMAS

The garland above the Nativity is back in its box,

il presepe è stato riposto,
the Nativity is back in its box too,

and Baby Jesus and the little angels are resting warm in a drawer,

The lunch tables of the feasts are a sweet memory, which has also made me put on some weight.
A nice laziness had cover my home. The this morning I received this email:
"You seem a bit lazy, you are not posting on your blog!"

I'm arranging the ideas I have in my mind. After "A wood to dream" we need another project.
I have it in my mind, but I cannot tell you more.

With the books, which contain the schemes to recreate the wood, we were able to help two Associations taking care of sick children and we hope we were able to make them smile.

In order to start 2012 with some positive attitude, I've decided to donate two books to two lucky quilters commenting this post. One book to an Italian quilter and one book to a foreign quilter. The 20nd of January will be the last day to post your comment.

BERGAMO - DANIELA DANCELLI

Last weekend, in Bergamo, there was Creattiva, the fair of creativity. I don't have pictures as I forgot to bring my camera (and this fact makes me worry a bit).
You can find all the pics on Laura's blog.

I met a lot of friends I haven't seen for a while. Among them also Daniela Dancelli, a quilter who had to leave patchwork behind for family reasons.
She's now back on track and starting from Houston with a quilt and a book dedicated to 40 artists from all over the world.

If you are planning to go to Houston Fair, don't forget to look at Daniela's quilt and flip through the 10 pages dedicated to her.

DIETRO IL NUMERO 36... --- BEHIND NUMBER 36...

What was hiding behind number 36?

Many years ago there was a repair shop, the door was a bit grey, and they used to repair cars

then the owner retired and that became a ceramic shop, full of colours thanks to the creativity of Mariafrancesca and Sara.
Its name is "La tana delle costruzioni" (The den of constructions).

Is here that on Sunday 5th June, there was the great opening of the exhibition "Tessuti per raccontare" (Fabrics to narrate) by Daniela Cassani.

Daniela picked this shop and coloured it with her little houses,

con i suoi giardini,
her gardens,

con i suoi graffiti,
her graffiti

and with the very last work, in which she put together fabric and raku ceramic.

She is famous for her little houses and landscapes between reality and fantasy,

with this exhibition she wanted to let people know her path,in the world of patchwork.

Dopo gli ultimi ritocchi,
After the finishing touches,

Daniela, un po' emozionata, inizia a presentarci i suoi lavori
Daniela, a little emotioned, begins to present her works

and in the end a beautiful liberating smile to all her friends,

The wonder of a fabric transforming in my hands, turning from white into colour and then joining other colours and materials...
These words by Daniela are the leading thread that made her organise this exhibition, a thread that will keep on sewing and creating again and again and again.
