UN PAVONE --- A PEACOCK

 Mentre passeggiavo tra le piante del Giardino Botanico Ravino a Ischia

While I was walking among plants of the Botanical Garden Ravino in Ischia

Ma dopo una partita a scacchi

But after a chess match

dopo aver ammirato altre piante

 after admiring other plants

vedo appoggiato su una panchina

I see on a bench, a huge Peacock

che dopo aver guardato me e mio marito

that, after watched at me and my husband

ha spalancato la sua bellissima coda

opened his beautiful tail

per corteggiare una pavoncella che passava.

to woo another peacock passing nearby.

Ma dopo l'indifferenza della "ragazza"

But after the indifference of the "girl"

il povero pavone rifiutato 

the poor refused peacock

si è rifugiato sulla sua panchina

took refuge on his bench

e io ho ripreso la mia passeggiata tra le piante

and I went back walking among the plants

e gli alberi dalle strane forme, non vi sembra un gufo questo tronco?

and strange-shaped trees: don't you think this trunk looks like an owl?

CUORI --- HEART

Vedo cuori ovunque.....cosa vorrà dire?

Ero in un ristorante e mi hanno portato il pane a forma di cuore.

I see hearts everywhere... What could this mean?

I was in a restaurant and they brought me heart-shaped bread.

Stavo andando in auto in una strada piena di buche e dopo un po' mi è sembrato di vedere un cuore, 

ho accostato, sono scesa e poichè ho sempre la macchina fotografica nella borsa.... clic ed ecco la buca a forma di cuore.

I was driving on a road full of potholes and after a while I thought I'd seen a heart,

I pulled over, I got off and - as I always have my camera in the bag - click and there it is, the heart-shaped pothole.

ll mio primo cuore patchwork cucito 12 anni fa.

E' un po' sciupato perchè ora è sul letto di mia figlia a Londra.

My first patchwork heart - sewed 12 years ago.

It's a bit spoiled because now it's on my daughter's bed in London.

Il papavero raccolto da mio marito in questo campo ora è così ed è in un libro.

Now the poppy my husband picked looks like this and is in a book.

 Per noi "ragazze" che amiamo le favole.

 For "girls" like us that love adventure.

I colori, nella favola di Disney, sono un po' diversi.....ma è così bello sognare.

The colours, in the Disney adventure, are a bit different.....but is so nice to dream.

DONNE - WOMEN
Nella coppia le donne fanno la differenza.

Il presidente degli Stati Uniti, Barak Obama, decide di andare a cena fuori con la moglie Michelle e, 

volendo fare qualcosa di diverso e fuori dalla routine, la porta in un normale ristorante e non, come al solito, in uno di lusso.
Seduti al tavolo, il proprietario si avvicina e chiede alle guardie del corpo di permettergli di andare a salutare la moglie del presidente.   

Una volta andato via il proprietario, Obama chiede a Michelle :"Perché quell'uomo aveva tanto interesse a salutarti?"
E lei :"In gioventù quest'uomo è stato per lungo tempo innamorato di me."
E Obama :"Ah, questo significa che se lo avessi sposato, oggi saresti la proprietaria di questo ristorante!
Michelle risponde sorridendo :
"No, tesoro ... Se avessi sposato quell'uomo, LUI sarebbe l’attuale presidente degli Stati Uniti d'America!"

In the couple, women make the difference.

The President of the United States, Barak Obama,

Decides to go out for dinner with his wife Michelle, 

and wanting to do something different and out of their routine,

he goes in an ordinary restaurant and not, as usual, in a luxury one.

Seated at the table, the owner is approaching and asks the guards to allow him to go to greet the President's wife.

Once the owner has gone away, Obama asks Michelle: "Why that man had so much interest in saying good-bye?"

And she said: "When we were young, this man has been in love with me for a long time".

And Obama: "Ah, this means that if you had married him, today you would have been the owner of this restaurant!"

Michelle replied smiling:

"No, dear... If I'd have married that man, HE'd have been the current President of the United States of America!"

Dal 20 al 22 Maggio, questo gruppo di "ragazze", si è incontrato da Enrica che ha messo a disposizione il suo residence di Marina di Alliste in Puglia, per un corso.

From 20th until 22nd May, this group of "girls", met with Enrica who has provided her residence in Marina di Alliste in Puglia, for a course.

Servivano per il corso di tintura di stoffe coi procion, tenuto da Daniela.

Why these little books?

They were for the dyeing course of fabrics with procion, taught by Daniela.

Cosa guardano con tanto interesse queste signore?

Durante lo "show and tell" le signore stavano contando i 5600 quadratini del quilt di Anna.

What are these women watching with so much interest?

     During the "show and tell" the ladies were counting the 5600 squares of the Anna's quilt.

Queste sono le mie stoffe tinte colorate come il gruppo e vivaci come i giorni che ho passato. Silvia ci ha salutato dicendo "il bello del patchwork è che poi ci si incontra e si sta insieme".

These are my coloured fabrics coloured like the group and happy like the days that I passed.

Silvia greeted us by saying "the beauty of the patchwork is  that we can meet and stay together".

DIETRO IL NUMERO 36... --- BEHIND NUMBER 36...

Tanti anni fa c'era un'officina, la porta era un po' grigia, e dentro si riparavano automobili

Many years ago there was a repair shop, the door was a bit grey, and they used to repair cars

poi il proprietario si è ritirato e l'officina è diventata un laboratorio di ceramica e 

si è vivacizzato con la creatività di Mariafrancesca e Sara.

Il suo nome è "La tana delle costruzioni".

then the owner retired and that became a ceramic shop, full of colours thanks to the creativity of Mariafrancesca and Sara. 

Its name is "La tana delle costruzioni" (The den of constructions).

E' qui che domenica 5 giugno,si è inaugurata la mostra "Tessuti per raccontare" di Daniela Cassani.

Is here that on Sunday 5th June, there was the great opening of the exhibition "Tessuti per raccontare" (Fabrics to narrate) by Daniela Cassani.

Daniela ha scelto questa laboratorio e l'ha colorato con le sue casette,

Daniela picked this shop and coloured it with her little houses,

con i suoi giardini,

her gardens, 

con i suoi graffiti,

her graffiti

e con l'ultimissimo lavoro nel quale ha unito stoffa e ceramica raku.

and with the very last work, in which she put together fabric and raku ceramic.

Lei che è famosa per i suoi paesaggi un po' tra il reale e il fantastico

She is famous for her little houses and landscapes between reality and fantasy,

ha voluto con questa esposizione far conoscere il suo percorso nel mondo del patchwork.

 with this exhibition she wanted to let people know her path,in the world of patchwork.

Dopo gli ultimi ritocchi,

After the finishing touches, 

Daniela, un po' emozionata, inizia a presentarci i suoi lavori

Daniela, a little emotioned, begins to present her works

e alla fine un bel sorriso a tutti gli amici presenti all'inaugurazione,

and in the end a beautiful liberating smile to all her friends, 

La meraviglia di un tessuto che si trasforma nelle mie mani, che da bianco diventa colore e che poi si unisce ad altri colori e materiali.... 

Questa frase di Daniela è il filo conduttore che l'ha spinta ad organizzare questa mostra, un filo che continuerà a cucire e a creare ancora e ancora e ancora.


The wonder of a fabric transforming in my hands, turning from white into colour and then joining other colours and materials...
These words by Daniela are the leading thread that made her organise this exhibition, a thread that will keep on sewing and creating again and again and again.
