LINDA'S LIFE

Da un po' di giorni, chi entra in casa mia, vede un quilt appoggiato sul divano
e la domanda che viene spontanea è " Bello! Linda hai fatto un nuovo quilt?"
e la risposta è "No, no non ho fatto un nuovo quilt, me l'hanno regalato le mie amiche"

Since a few days, who comes to my home, sees a new quilt laying on the sofa

and the spontaneus question has been "Very nice Linda! Have you made a new quilt?"

And the answer is "No, I haven't. My friends gave me that as a present".

E' vero......durante il quilting day, quando la giornata stava per finire, Daniela con una grossa scatola rossa tra le mani prende la parola e dice che tutte insieme avevano deciso di farmi un regalo e mi porge la scatola. Veramente lei ha detto altre cose ma per l'emozione me le sono dimenticata.

That's true... During the Quilting day, when the event was about to finish, Daniela - holding a big box in her hands - starts telling that all together they had decided to give me a gift. And she gave me the box. To be sincere, she told other things, but I completly forgot them because I was so touched.

Apro la scatola ed ecco un quilt, un quilt speciale intitolato Linda's life.

I opened the box and... a quilt was there. A special quilt named "Linda's life".

In ogni blocco sono ricamati i miei sogni, i miei affetti, i miei hobby, i miei vizietti e tutto è circondato dai miei colori preferiti, i colori autunnali.

In each block they sewed my dreams, people I love, my hobbies, my habits and everything is surrounded by my favourite colours, the colours of Autumn.

Il fatto curioso è che, le mie amiche, hanno preparato questo quilt in gran segreto, scambiandosi i blocchi e le stoffe anche a casa mia e senza che io me ne accorgessi e le parole che hanno scritto sul retro sono di una frase che avevo letto in Val d'Argent e che avevo fotografato perchè mi piaceva particolarmente "Noi siamo fatte delle stoffe con cui sono tessuti i nostri sogni".

What is curious is that they made this quilt secretly, sharing blocks and fabrics even in my place and I didn't realize anything of what was going on. And the words they wrote on the backside are from a phrase I read in Val d'Argent and of which I had taken a picture because I really liked it "We are made of the fabrics of which stars are made".

Sono veramente lusingata perchè le mie amiche per mesi mi sono state vicine, mi hanno osservato e hanno capito benissimo tante sfaccettature della mia vita e sono sempre più convinta che il detto " Chi dorme sotto un quilt dorme sotto un tetto d'amore" sia vera vera.

I feel so happy because my friends have been close to me for many months, have been observing me and have perfectly understood a lot of facets of my life.

I'm more and more convinced that the saying "Who sleeps under a quilt, sleeps under a deck of love" is true.

WEEK-END CREATIVO

Lo scorso weekend (9-10 ottobre) a Lugano il tempo era un po' grigio, il lago si vedeva a malapena dalle finestre del Cadro, ma in una sala di questo centro che ci ospitava il clima era molto caldo e vivace.

C'era Linda Colsh che ha tenuto un corso organizzato da Marlis di TexArtAcademy.

Last weekend (9th-10th october) the weather was really grey in Lugano. It was hard to see the lake from Cadro's windows, but in a room of this centre a warm and familiar environment was waiting for us, even though people didn't know each other.

There was Linda Colsh, who hold a course organized by Marlis for TexArtAcademy.

Giocando con colori, pennelli, carta e stoffa abbiamo trascorso due giorni creando texture uniche e irripetibili, trasferendo immagini sulla stoffa.
Playing with colours, paintbrushes, paper, and fabrics, we spent two days creating unique and unrepeatable textures transferring images on fabric.

Linda è un'artista che trasmette molte delle sue conoscenze tranquillamente e serenamente invogliandoti a provare e a sperimentare senza ansia ed è forse per questo che i risultati sono stati molto interessanti.

Al termine eravamo tutte un po' emozionate e dispiaciute che i due giorni fossero volati via così in fretta.

Era la prima volta che partecipavo ad un simile seminario, mi è piaciuto tantissimo e naturalmente ne programmerò sicuramente un'altro.
Linda is an artist who exchanges a lot of her knowledge without any problems and serenely, tempting you to try and experiment without anxiety. And maybe it's for this reason that the results have been so interesting.
At the end we were all excited, but also sad, because two days have flown away so quickly.
It was the first time for me to such a workshop. I enjoyed it so much and I'll be attending another for sure.

BUON COMPLEANNO --- HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Oggi è il compleanno di Isabella , mia figlia, ma......lei è a Londra ed io sono qui in Italia.
Today is the birthday of Isabella, my daughter, but ... ... she is in London, and we are here in Italy.

Alle 12.30 ci siamo date un dolce appuntamento con Skype.Lei ha festeggiato così con due sue amiche.
At 12.30pm. we had a sweet appointment through Skype. She celebrated so with her friends.

UN BOSCO PER SOGNARE --- A WOOD TO DREAM

Da molto tempo avevo un'idea in testa ma non riuscivo a vederla ben chiara. Mi sarebbe piaciuto trasformare il quilting day in un grande workshop per lavorare ad progetto un po' fantastico.
Il giorno del mio compleanno a luglio del 2009 mi era arrivata, da Serena, una poesia. Mi era piaciuta subito tantissimo.
I've been having an idea in my mind for a long time, but I wasn't able to see it very clearly. I would have loved to turn the quilting day into a big workshop on a "fantasy" project.
Then, on my birthday in 2009 I received a wonderful poem. I loved that immediately.
It's hard to translate and give the meaning of this poem. It says that the world is not just black or white, but it is full of colours and that we should learn to look at and for them.

OLTRE IL BIANCO E IL NERO

Oltre il Bianco della neve appena posata

e il Nero di una notte senza luna,

c'è il Blu del mare più profondo

e il Giallo dei crocus e dei girasoli.

Il Verde del grano, prima di ingiallire

e il Rosso del rubino e del corallo.

Il Rosa delle rose rosa

e l'Azzurro del cielo, lontano da Milano.

L'Argento delle stelle

e l'Oro delle pepite.

Il Viola degli iris di Van Gogh

e il Lilla delle serenelle.

Still in 2009, in Val d'Argent, walking through a fabric forest by Irene Kahmann, I've felt a big emotion that gave a shake to my idea.


ho provato una grande emozione che ha dato una scossa alla mia idea e per finire l'incontro con Rina la "mamma" delle fate. Il progetto era fatto.
Then, I've met Rina, the "mom" of fairies. At that moment the project had been done.



Durante l'assemblea di Rimini parlo con Daniela, la delegata regionale, la quale si dice entusiasta e così iniziano i lavori.
Chiedo ad alcune quilters se vogliono collaborare al progetto e a marzo del 2010, durante l'Hobby show di Milano, il progetto viene definito.
Eravamo in 11 a lavorare per il nostro "BOSCO PER SOGNARE"
Ed ecco che il 3 ottobre la costruzione del bosco inizia.

105 quilters, divise in 10 gruppi, hanno lavorato ad un bosco pieno di colori e di idee reali e fantastiche.

During the Rimini meeting I'd been talking to Daniela, regional representative, who showed a big enthusiasm. So, the works were in progress.
I'd asked some quilters if they wanted to collaborate to the project and in March 2010, during the Hobby show in Milan, we defined all its aspects.
We were 11 working to our "A WOOD TO DREAM".
And on the 3rd of October the building of the wood started and 105 quilters, divided into 10 groups, had been working creating a wood full of colours, of real and imaginary ideas.

They could add anything even their dreams.



Il lavoro di preparazione è stato lungo, tingere le stoffe, ricercare il materiale per vestire materialmente gli alberi che sono stati disegnati modificando e distorcendo la chiave di violino,coordinare le idee e preparare il lavoro per impegnare e coinvolgere le componenti dei vari gruppi.
Claudia, Mariangela, Monica, Teresa G. , Daniela, Rita, Ileana, Grazia, Teresa B. ed Enrica hanno lavorato per tutta l'estate ma sono state gratificate dalla partecipazione curiosa e attiva delle varie quilters che hanno animato questo workshop.
The prepearing process has been very long. Colouring fabrics, finding materials to dress the trees (which have been designed by distorting the treble clef), coordinating ideas and prepearing the work to commit, and involve the members of each group.
Claudia, Mariangela, Monica, Teresa G., Daniela, Rita, Ileana, Grazia, Teresa B. and Enrica have been working all summer long. But they have been gratified by the curious partecipation of all the quilters who joined this workshop.
Nadia, Cosetta, Nicoletta e Grazia hanno presentato nel tardo pomeriggio tre dimostrazioni molto seguite per i loro argomenti interessanti.
Nadia, Cosetta, Nicoletta and Grazia presented late in the afternoon three demonstrations. They were really interesting and had a lot of public.

Il laboratorio del nostro "BOSCO PER SOGNARE" avrà un seguito l' 11 dicembre quando verrà appeso in una serra di piante di agrumi e dove chi vorrà lo potrà ammirare e leggere.
Leggere perchè dietro ad ogni pannello verranno cucite le frasi e i pensieri che chi ha partecipato al progetto, ha scritto e consegnato alle capogruppo.
Tutto questo lavoro si trasformerà in un libro che verrà venduto e il cui ricavato andrà in beneficenza con la speranza che serva a far sognare qualcuno meno fortunato di noi.
The workshop of our WOOD TO DREAM won't stop here. It will be hanging in a citrus glasshouse on the 11th of December, where people will have the chance to go, admire and read.
I said "read", because behind each panel there will be sewed phrases and thoughts written by the members of the groups, who gave them to their groupleaders.
This project will turn into a book that will be sold. The money will then be given for charity, hoping that it will help someone less lucky than us dreaming.
