QUILTS E PAROLE --- QUILTS AND WORDS

Guardando il lago, un po' cupo, mentre camminavo lentamente verso la Biblioteca di Laveno Mombello, mi veniva in mente "Piccolo Mondo Antico" di Antonio Fogazzaro uno dei romanzieri che con le loro parole ci hanno spesso emozionato.
Looking at the lake while I was slowly walking towards the Library of Laveno Mombello, I was thinking of 'Piccolo Mondo Antico' (Ancient Little World) by Antonio Fogazzaro, one of those novelists that have often been able to move us with their words.

Andavo ad ammirare i "quilts letterali" creati da otto quilters italiane che leggendo o sentendo le parole di alcune poesie o di alcune canzoni, hanno deciso di fermare la loro emozione creando un quilt.
I was going to see the "literal quilts" created by eight Italian quilters who reading or hearing some poems or songs, decided to trap that emotion in a quilt.

All'esterno della biblioteca dedicata ad Antonia Pozzi, il bellissimo parco di Villa Frua, nel quale tra alberi secolari, un grande libro di rame, ti invita alla lettura.

Outside the library, dedicated to Antonia Pozzi, the wonderful park of Villa Frua, in which a big copper book invites you to read among centuries-old trees.

E' lo strumento del mio nuovo sport, anzi di uno sport che praticavo da bambina e che ora ho ripreso....
un indizio ve lo avevo già dato nel post che avevo fatto subito dopo le mie vacanze di maggio e ora aggiungo che c'è ci gioca a tennis e ha la racchetta, c'è chi gioca a golf e ha le mazze, c'è che gioca a calcio e ha il pallone.

Io ho questa scatolina che misura 21 x 5 cm.

It the instrument of my new sport, indeed of a sport I used to play when I was a child and that I've started again now...

I had already given you a clue in the post I did immediately after my holidays in May and now I add that there's who plays tennis and has the racket, who plays golf and has the club, who plays soccer and has the ball.

I have this box measuring 21 x 5 cm.

Perchè ieri 2 luglio si è inaugurata presso il Museo della Ceramica di Cerro di Laveno, la mostra Afghanistan Inspirations organizzata da Daniela Cassani.
That's because yesterday, 2nd July, there was the opening of the Afghanistan Inspirations exhibition at the Ceramic Museum of Cerro di Laveno organized by Daniela Cassani.

Dopo i discorsi di apertura abbiamo varcato il grande portone per ammirare le opere in mostra.

After the opening speeches,we have crossed the big main entrance that allowed us to admire the works.

E' stato come varcare il portone di una casa del villaggio di Laghmani ed entrare là dove donne di un'altra cultura, apparentemente diverse da noi, 

It was like crossing the main entrance of a house in Laghmani village and get in a place where women from an apparently different culture from ours

ricamano i quadratini che poi tante quilters europee inseriscono nei loro quilts.

Quadratini che Pascale Goldenderg - una signora tedesca -  ci ha fatto conoscere e apprezzare, ed è grazie a questi lavori che le donne afghane raccolgono i fondi per aiutare  le loro famiglie.

Little squares that Pascale Goldenderg - a German woman - let us know and appreciate, and it is thanks to these works that Afghan women can collect the money to nurse and take care of their families.

C'erano gli abiti dell'atelier Royah di Arte-fatto, coi loro inserti e i loro ricami dedicati all'Afghanistan.

 We were able to admire the dresses from the Royah atelier  by Arte-fatto, with their inserts and embroideries dedicated to Afghanistan.
