LE MILANESI................
A Milano c'è un gruppo di (x x x x x x x x), soprannominato "Le Milanesi", che una domenica al mese si incontra per parlare di (x x x x x) e non solo. Durante l' incontro dello scorso ottobre decisero che ognuna doveva cucire un quilt che doveva avere come tema "IO". Era l'occasione di esprimere le proprie aspirazioni, i propri sogni passati e quelli futuri. Il gruppo stabilì misure e regole per preparare i quilts che dovevano essere pronti per il Patchmed di Milano.
THE MILANESE.........
In Milan there's a group of (x x x x x x x x), named "the Milanese", that meets one Sunday each months to talk about (x x x x x) and not only. During last October meeting they decided everyone should create a quilt named "ME". It was the perfect occasion to express their own aspirations, past and future dreams. The group decided each quilt should have certain measures and rules and that they should have been ready for Milan Patchmed.
Anch'io faccio parte del gruppo e con piacere ho scoperto che nei nostri sogni c'è stato o c'è ancora il desiderio di essere ballerine, pittrici, giardiniere, mamme di famiglie numerose, astronaute, modelle, alpiniste, sarte, giramondo, aristocratiche ecc. I'm part of this group too and with pleasure I've found out that there was and there's still is the desire to be dancers, painters, gardners, moms in big families, astronauts, models, climbers, sewers, travellers, aristocratics etc.
La cosa più bella è che pur avendo avendo aspirazioni così diverse abbiamo tutte un (x x x x x) in comune che ci lega ..........e cioè il piacere di (x x x x x x) pezze. Noi siamo pezze del nostro (x x x x x x x x x). Quando ho visto questo video, un anno fa, ho pensato "Io sono come quel fiore".
L'ho riguardato in diversi momenti e non ho mai cambiato idea. When I saw this video, a year ago, I'd been thinking "I'm like that flower". I've been watching it in different moments and I've never changed my mind.
Nella mia vita tante volte mi sono sentita bella, colorata, allegra, importante e con un ruolo centrale nella vita famigliare e sociale proprio come quel fiore e tante altre volte invece mi sono sentita calpestata, lasciata in un angolo, dimenticata, non vista, inutile, quasi in bilico, trasportata dagli eventi che si succedevano senza che li vivessi, inutile come qualcosa da buttare nella spazzatura e addirittura ho sentito la sensazione di cadere come quel fiore, ma........... In my life I felt beautiful, colorful, joyful, meaningful and with a main role in the family and social life, just like that flower. So many other times I felt trampled on, left alone in a corner, forgotten, invisible, useless, almost in the balance, taken from events without really living them, useless like something that should be thrown in the rubbish and sometimes I had the feeling I was falling like that flower, but.................
.........quando i puntini neri diventavano punti un po' troppo grossi e vicini e il nero sembrava più grande del colore, c'eraQualcuno oppure rispuntava la Forza e la Voglia di tornare ad essere allegra, colorata e felice. Noi donne siamo così, siamo capaci di rinnovarci tante volte nella nostra vita, proprio come quel fiore che sembrava da buttare e invece è rifiorito in mille fiori........... ........when the small black points turned into too big and close points and the black seemed wider than the color, there was Someone or theStrength and the Willing to be happy, colored and joyful again came back. We, women, are like this. We can renew ourselves so many times in our lives, just like that flower that looked like it should be thrown in the rubbish and instead it bloomed again in many flowers.............

Il quilt del girotondo è stato realizzato con le bamboline, raccolte durante il quilting day di Monza 2008 e forma un fiore perchè il tema della giornata era "il mio giardino". Ring-a-ring-a-roses quilt has been created with the dolls collected during Monza 2008 Quilting day and they build the shape of a flower because the topic of that day was "my garden".
Avrei dovuto cucire le sagome sul muslin e poi fare un libro, ma quando le ho viste tutte insieme così allegre e colorate e mi è sembrato quasi di sentire le loro voci che parlavano, ho deciso che non potevo chiuderle al buio tra le pagine di un libro, ma che dovevo farle correre e ho immaginato che se le quilters di tutto il mondo si potessero dare realmente la mano si potrebbe fare un girotondo grandissimo e colorato intorno al mondo. I should have sewed them with muslin and then create a book but when I saw them all together so happy and colorful and it seemed to me to hear their voices and I've decided I couldn't close them in the dark among the pages of a book. I wanted them to run and I've imagined that if the quilters of all the world could give each other their hands, they could do a huge and colorful ring-a-ring-a-roses around the world.
