Ti ricordi del grembiule della tua nonna? O della tua mamma ?
L'uso principale del grembiule della Nonna era di proteggere il vestito sotto di esso , ma oltre a ciò :
- Serviva da guanto per prendere una pentola bollente dai fornelli.
- Era meraviglioso per asciugare le lacrime dei bimbi e in certe occasioni per pulire la "goccia da naso".
- Serviva a trasportare dal pollaio le uova e ogni tanto i pulcini.
- Quando arrivavano visitatori, il grembiule serviva come nascondiglio per bimbi timidi
- Quando il tempo era fresco la Nonna ci si copriva le braccia.
- Questo buon vecchio grembiule serviva da " attizzatore " agitato sopra al fuoco di legna
- E' lui che trasferisce le patate e la legna secca in cucina.
- Dall'orto serviva da cesto per numerosi legumi ; dopo che i fagiolini erano stati raccolti veniva il turno dei cavoli.
Can you remember your grandma’s or mom’s apron?
The main use of grandma’s apron was to cover the dress under it, but besides this:
- it was used as a glove for a hot pot
- it was wonderful to dry children’s tears or to clean a running nose
- it was used to bring eggs from the hen-house, and sometimes to bring around chicks
- when there were guests, the apron was the perfect place where shy children wanted to hide
- when the weather was a bit fresh, the grandma used it to cover her arms
- it was a perfect fire hook when waved near the firewood
- it is used to bring potatoes and little pieces of firewood in the kitchen
- from the vegetable garden it was used to bring legumes; after the green beans it was the turn of the cabbage

- Quando dei visitatori arrivavano all'improvviso era sorprendente vedere come questo vecchio grembiule poteva fare la polvere.
- Quando era ora di servire il pranzo, la Nonna andava davanti a casa agitando il grembiule e gli uomini nei campi sapevano immediatamente che dovevano andare a mangiare.
- La Nonna l'utilizzava anche per posare la torta di mele appena uscita dal forno sul bordo della finestra affinché si raffreddasse; ai nostri giorni sua nipote la appoggia per scongelarla.
Ci vorranno tanti lunghi anni prima che qualcuno possa inventare qualche oggetto che possa rimpiazzare questo bel vecchio grembiule che serviva a tante cose.

- when unexpected guests arrived it was amazing to see how this old apron was very useful to dust
- when lunch was served, grandma used to go up on the steps and shake the apron, so that men immediately knew it was lunch time
- it was used to put near the window the apple cake just taken from the oven, so that it could get cold. Nowadays the once granddaughters use the apron to put the cake while it’s de-icing
It will take a very long time before anyone will be able to invent an object so useful and able to substitute that old apron.
