COME E' CAMBIATA LA MIA VITA --- HOW CHANGED MY LIFE

How changed my house (and with house I mean the atmosphere inside) and
my life are.
Since some months I've been spending many afternoons alone, my husband at work, my
sons at work too and I have a lot of time for myself.
How strange! When I needed it, I did not have enough and I was always in a hurry.
Instead now I can program the afternoon in the way I prefer.
I'm not sorry about that but on the contrary, I think I have to take this as an opportunity thinking that in a few years everything could change again........... I will maybe become a grandmother and ? will have to run (but slowly).
The music (that changes depending on the mood of my days), the courses of
Acrobate Women, the friends and patchwork meke me company, and while I'm sewing
my thoughts fly.

I think of my family, friends and myself and I look in the rucksack that each one of us carries on the shoulders and where we put pieces of our lives: happy and
relaxed or more difficult and sad. Shooting them out, first come the most beautiful ones (who knows why), I reorder and transform them into colored cards. I can see parts I hadn't noticed at first sight and I add some new details
and then I put them back as I would do with a beautiful quilt.....after cutting the unnecessary threads, ironing and folding it, I will put it back in the wardrobe, in a place where I can take it back outside everytime I'd like to look at it again. Here it's the same, it's not hard nor exhausting.
Then there are the more difficult pieces to be fixed, to be understood and to be placed....like an imprecise quilt -a bit crooked or with some humps- and we have to decide if we want to make it new or to adjust it by cutting here and there and sometimes it comes out that we like it more than the original project because we have been working hard and...........then we can put it back.
And then there are the ones that I call the "boulders" .......... it's difficult to remove them, to take them with our hands and to keep on our knees because they are too heavy. We have to put them on the table and then we turn around them and it seems like they are rolled up in layers of paper or plastic and each layer has many knots.........and it's like you have so many coloured fabrics and you keep on changing them, putting one here and on there, one upside the other but you can't find the perfect solution ans so you say: "I'll think about it, but not now." So you put everything back, but in any way you have moved them.
I've decided that I won't move some of them anymore because they are part of me and if I am the way I am right now, it is also thanks to these "boulders". About the other ones, I will face them calmly.
In the meanwhile I'll order and make some place in my rucksack, as we do with our fabrics, when we reorganize them and then realize that we have place for new ones.

I wanted to share these thoughts with those people who share with me everyday a small part of my house...........MY BLOG.

Quando la vita va in pezzi ........ QUILTALA.

I think Teodo that we had different times in our life; sometimes very hurry, kids, work to do etc etc and then when the kids leave, we have more time for our self again. Sometimes the kids came back for a while, and moves again ;-)
And so if we are lucky came the best, our grandchildren! I think it´s a very good time in the life now, I have time for my self, I can play with my stuff, and have time to do things I newer could before!

That was a very thoughtful post Linda. I think you and I are at much the same stage in life. I find I am starting to sort through my pack sack now as well. I like your metaphor about the boulders - I think there does come a point in life that we should not keep trying to move those boulders and just accept them as they are. Life should be easy now - we've done the hard work and it is time to enjoy the less stressful times!!

Your post is the story about my painting "The Mirror". Yes, as you said there, our life is a great Quilt which we take with us all the time in our journey on Earth. But we like quilting, aren't we? White or back, green or yellow, the days of our life are uniques and wonderful as the pieces of fabrics are in our quilts. We are all the time the same and others, because we are changing the position in the picture.
You are one of my mirrors, you are one of my reasons for being here, Linda, because when I'm visiting your "house" you are opening your arms, hug me and spoil me with your friendship. So, you are a precious piece of fabric in my universe.
Thank you and thank you for opening your soul for us.
Hugs from me too, :)

wonderful thoughts.....boulders ...yes.... I think each one of us has a backpag or a rucksack with many boulders...big ones ...small ones...sometimes its heavy to wear the backpag...sometimes its easier...but all boulders are part of each of us...and that's life....sometimes we are happy and sometimes sad...but your thoughts tells me that each one has the same kind of thinking when its time to tell about heavy boulders ...
Kisses and big HUGS Barbara

ti abbraccio Bea.

Hi Teodo, What a lovely thoughtful post life certainly has it's up & down I sometimes think my life is more hectic now with 2 extra grown up in it. I had much more control when they were little but I know I will be very sad when they leave my nest.

Marisa

Normally all us are afraid with changes in our life, but life is just this: changes. Every day is different and fortunately we are able to adapt. When my son left home to have his own home I was so happy... and so sad!!!! ...but now I am only happy :))
